Spaghetti's Sticks

Spaghetti's Story

Spaghetti arrived at the Anti-Cruelty Society in late September of 2019. He came to Chicago from Oklahoma where he spent time in a shelter that would have turned to euthanasia if he wasn't adopted quickly. He was 6 months old.

In rural areas like the region of Oklahoma where he was born, smaller dogs are often passed up for adoption in favor of larger, more "country-safe" dogs. Thankfully the Anti-Cruelty Society serves not only the Chicago area, but also lends its services around the country, transporting at-risk animals to cities where they have an exponentially greater chance of finding forever homes.

We are incredibly grateful that Spaghetti was one of those lucky dogs who was rescued from Oklahoma. Working just around the corner from the LaSalle location, Grace often stopped by to spend time with the animals and get her fill of puppy love. It was only a matter of time before she spotted Spaghetti, giving her his very best "please love me" face. Predictably, she was smitten. Minutes later, Julie arrived. She agreed, we were in deep. Morgan was the deciding factor, and at that point Spaghetti was already building himself quite a large place in our heart. We took him home that day.

The team at the Anti-Cruelty Society was kind, thoughtful and fully transparent throughout the entire adoption process. They wanted to make sure Spaghetti was going to the best home he could. If he couldn't go with us, he would have a place there as long as he needed. But with that face, there was no way he wasn't going home with someone soon. We couldn't be happier with our little man and the great work that the ACS has done to get him and thousands like him to their forever homes. That's why we're so excited to join the ACS at Bark in the Park this May!

Join Our Pack for Bark in the Park!

Bark in the Park is Chicago’s oldest and best dog walk and party, and it’s also The Anti-Cruelty Society’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Bark in the Park begins with a 2.5 mile walk along Chicago's beautiful lakefront, followed by the best dog party in town with food, beverages, entertainment, and dog-friendly demonstrations. Some of the exciting activities planned for that day include: canine agility courses, pet product samples, dog massages, pawdicures, activities for kids, souvenir photos, and a 50/50 cash raffle. Participants will also enjoy a variety of free food and beverages, live music, and much more!

This year, Spaghetti's Sticks are branching out to help the ACS spread continue their invaluable work. The money we raise will be used to provide critical care for thousands of animals, and help them find good homes. In 2018 The Anti-Cruelty Society helped over 5,700 animals find homes. They also reached over 21,000 people through their outreach programs; helped 1,770 abused or neglected animals through their field outreach service; and spayed or neutered nearly 10,000 animals.

The Anti-Cruelty Society has been building a more humane Chicago for people and pets since their founding 1899. Since then, the Society has grown into Chicago's oldest and largest open admission animal welfare organization, and their programs and services improve the lives of thousands of animals and Chicagoans every year. The Anti-Cruelty Society’s mission is to build a community of caring by helping pets and educating people.

However, the care that The Anti-Cruelty Society provides to animals in need is only possible through the friendship of the community. Help us in supporting Bark in the Park 2020. Your generosity will ensure that thousands of abandoned and neglected animals will find hope, comfort, and healing this year.

What Are Spaghetti's Sticks?

Well...It's Spaghetti's world, and we're all just sticks in it. Spaghetti loves a good stick. In fact, he has quite the collection going.

It doesn't matter how big, small, short or tall. If it fits in his mouth he's taking it with him.

The joy that each stick brings our boy is the joy we want all the furry friends at the Anti-Cruelty Society to have. We hope that by embracing the unbridled happiness that Spaghetti shares with the world, we can project the ACS's mission as far and wide as possible to keep them doing what they do best. Helping animals like Spaghetti.
