Welcome to Neil's Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my page. For most of my life I have had at least one dog in my house. At times there were cats, birds, and hamsters as well. The dogs were Labrador Retrievers and the cats came from ads in the paper. About 13 years ago, we "downsized" from Labs to a rescued Boston Terrier. As time passed our daughter fell for a mixed breed from a shelter she was spending time as a volunteer. She asked to adopt him, and as long as it was ok with our Boston, it would be ok.
I have to admit I had some reservations about bringing another dog into the house. Now I can't imagine him not being here. Every night when I go to bed, he comes next to me to say good night and curls in his pillow next to the bed. It is such a comfort and joy knowing he is there. My daughter now volunteers at the Anti-Cruelty Society and I know there are so many animals needing forever homes. The Anti-Cruelty Society supports that cause and that's why I'm running the 2020 Chicago Marathon for Team Anti-Cruelty. If you too would like to support the Anti-Cruelty Society, please make a donation to help them provide for animals still waiting for their forever home.
In 1899, Rose Fay Thomas, wife of Chicago Symphony Orchestra founder Theodore Thomas, established The Anti-Cruelty Society and forever changed the landscape of animal welfare throughout the Chicago region. Since that time, the Society has endured as Chicago's oldest and largest open admission animal welfare organization, one that provides a wide breadth of programs that save the lives of thousands of animals each year. A certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the recipient of a four-star Charity Navigator rating, The Anti-Cruelty Society’s mission is to build a community of caring by helping pets and educating people.
Today, The Anti-Cruelty Society remains the oldest and the largest open admission animal welfare organization in Chicago. All animals are welcome at the Society every day of the year. We never turn an animal away from our doors. Ever. And once an animal is admitted, they can stay as long as it takes to find their forever home.
However, the care that we provide to animals in need is only possible through the friendship and support of our community. And by choosing to support Team Anti-Cruelty, you are making a difference to each and every one of the animals that comes to us in search of hope, comfort, and healing.
