Bark from the Heart
Every May for the past 25 years, thousands of dogs and their owners walked the Chicago lakefront path to celebrate and support the furry members of their families in The Anti-Cruelty Society's annual Bark in the Park fundraiser. This is the largest fundraising event for the Society and one that generates funds to care for thousands of animals throughout the year. Like many other things this spring, Bark in the Park had to go virtual, and became Bark from the Heart, an event to raise funds, spread awareness and help to support the lifesaving work The Anti-Cruelty Society continues to do day-in and day-out, before, during, and after this pandemic.
The Anti-Cruelty Society temporarily closed its doors to the public in March like many other businesses and nonprofits. But the animals in our care still need us. Essential staff and volunteers are still going in every day to feed, walk, clean kennels and provide medical care. Animals have been placed in foster care to assure proper socialization and adoption screenings are taking place over the phone to ensure pets are still finding the best forever home possible.
While The Anti-Cruelty Society has adapted to the new conditions we are living in, this business model is not sustainable. The Anti-Cruelty is essential for saving the lives of Chicago's homeless, abandoned and abused animals. Now more than ever, the Society needs your support.
I adopted Abbie 9 years ago. I can't imagine my life without her and I am forever grateful for the measures The Anti-Cruelty Society took to save her life and bring her into mine. Please consider making a donation to my personal Bark from the Heart fundraiser to help the future Abbie's and all the other animals the Society will care for in the future.
