In August 2017 I organized a volunteer day for my team at the Anti-Cruelty Socieity, just blocks from our new office at the Merchandise Mart. While there I fell in love with an 11 week old puppy they had named Rosebud. After convincing Cheryl it was time for a puppy, we adopted Rosebud, renamed her Miss Brie, and Mr. Pecan had a little (nightmare) sister.

Since then I have been heavily involved with the Anti-Cruelty Society.

Miss Brie was picked for Puppy Bowl 14 so we went to New York and upon our return did a bunch of press for ACS.
Hosted a Beam Suntory table at their annual Pour Your Heart Out fundraiser in February 2018 and 2019.
Team Ruff walked in last year's Bark in the Park.
I organzed a 2nd volunteer day (did not adopbt a puppy this time).
Attended the ACS day at the Chicago Dogs game where Miss Brie was the dog parade marshall and the honorary manager.
And made two friends at ACS!

Team Ruff gets its name from the Puppy Bowl team Miss Brie was on during Puppy Bowl 14. Sadly she sat on the bench, and her team lost, but we're proud she made it. In 1899, Rose Fay Thomas, wife of Chicago Symphony Orchestra founder Theodore Thomas, established The Anti-Cruelty Society and forever changed the landscape of animal welfare throughout the Chicago region. Today, The Anti-Cruelty Society remains the oldest and the largest open admission animal welfare organization in Chicago. All animals are welcome at the Society every day of the year. We never turn an animal away from our doors. Ever.  And once an animal is admitted, they can stay as long as it takes to find their forever home.
