Welcome to My Personal Page
My care for animals began when I was a child growing up in Rogers Park. I remember bringing home to mom numerous injured birds, bunnies, kittens and even a hedgehog when I still lived in Russia. Over the years, I've chased down, cornered and lured lost dogs/cats just so they can be reunited with their human parents or bring them to a local shelter to care for and eventually find them a forever home. And yes, I am sure many of my friends whom I've subjected to this chase and rescue routine (only because they happen to be in the car with me), probably think I am a little crazy and fearless.
I have participated in Bark in the Park and other animal rescue charity events for dozens of years now, but I am most passionate about Anti-Cruelty Society and their significant impact on local rescue animals. That's why my team (The Sniffers) is participating in the 5k Bark in the Park walk on Saturday, May 18. It is the Anti-Cruelty Society's largest fundraiser - and the largest dog-friendly party we know of!
The Anti-Cruelty society provides animals in need with the compassion they deserve. Not only is it one of Chicago's oldest and largest open admission animal welfare organizations - it's also the organization that brought my most beloved rescue pets into my life! I adopted my first cat Abbey 10 minutes into volunteering on my first day and then the other two mischievous felines shortly thereafter. That kind experience led me to adopt Rockstar, a loving Pit-mix and Rascal, an energetic Jack Russell Terrier. Yes, that is 5 animals! Which I refer to as the Gubenko animal kingdom…don’t judge.
The care that the Anti Cruelty Society provides to animals in need is only possible through the friendship and support of our community. And by choosing to walk with The Sniffers or by donation today, you are making a difference to each and every one of the animals that comes to Anti Cruelty society in search of hope, comfort, and healing.
Considering all the warmth and love that rescue animals have brought into our homes, the very least we can do is give back to the Anti-Cruelty Society. And if you have a rescue animal - or just really like other people's rescue animals – I encourage you to donate. My team’s goal is to raise $3000 by May 18. Help us build a community of caring and donate below! And as an added bonus, your DONATION IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
